The Brief:
Our partners, Touch Associates, a leading corporate events agency, contacted us with a brief for an annual, global conference for 300 senior research and development delegates working for a well-known, global, pharmaceutical company.
The Conference was to take place at the Hilton, Munchen Park and the challenge required was to lead teams out into surrounding Munich and the beautiful Englischer Garten.
The Conference’s objective was to bring delegates together from all over the world to facilitate a “meeting of minds” and to discuss new ways of working and successfully launching market-leading products. With a lot of content to cover in a short amount of time the team activity provided by Wildgoose needed to give the delegates the chance to relax and have some fun whilst working collaboratively in teams with colleagues from around the globe.
The Solution:
Given that the conference’s title was “Going for Gold” and with Rio 2016 fast approaching it was a no-brainer that the foundation of this game should be our “Rio Street Olympics” theme.
Including bonus “gold, silver and bronze hotspots’ that were released mid-game as teams hit certain point levels, some light-hearted sports-related photo and video challenges, general knowledge and quiz-based sporting questions, there was something for everybody. This was combined seamlessly with some location-specific content relating to Munich’s culture and heritage along with the conference’s branding throughout the app and a number of tailored challenges relating to all of the buzzwords from the conference, such as Leadership, Collaboration and As One.
The unpredictable spring weather threw a curveball at the 11th hour with snow showers reported 24 hours prior to the outdoor event. Once on-site we worked quickly and set up a series of image recognition hotspot triggers throughout the hotel containing a large portion of the content meaning teams had the freedom of choice to wrap up and brave the elements or stay within the warmth of the venue whilst still experiencing the same activity.
The Results:
As a result, the event teams had the chance to break out of the heavy-hitting conference content and reconnect with their global counterparts whom they rarely have any face-to-face time with. The groups were re-energized by the activity with the opportunity to adventure around Munich and learn a little about its culture after being inside a conference suite all day. Key buzzwords that had formed topics of discussion throughout the conference were reinforced and brought to life in a creative way and the following morning, the final day of the conference was kicked off with an uplifting, professionally edited Wildgoose video containing all of the team photo and video submissions from the event.
